The Ramblings of a Redhead

Hello everyone! Sorry it has been awhile, but I have been collecting tons of adventures to share with you guys! I am going to start with one of my favorites. Memorial Day weekend I got to go kayaking for the first time! I may have a new love for this pastime. We rented kayaks from a state park near my parents to take out. The seats were a bit wonky, and didn't really support our backs, but we made due. We had two tandem kayaks (which I had no idea what this was before so I shall share my newfound knowledge...those of you who are experienced kayakers you can laugh at me. The ranger renting the kayaks and my brother did. Ha ha...anyway, a tandem kayak, also called a twin kayak seats two people rather than just one...okay so it was self explanatory and I felt rather stupid, but hey, now I know.) Hello all! I am back! Did you miss me? Of course you did ;-) A couple weeks ago some friends of mine and I decided we needed to go on an adventure. So we took our day off, piled into the car, and headed off to Gettysburg. When we arrived we stopped at the National Cemetery first. I have been to Gettysburg before, but I had never stopped here. It was an amazing sight to see so many of those who have died for our country. So many sacrificed all they had so that we would have a safe place to live and enjoy. We also go to see the grave site of Jennie Wade (the only civilian casualty of the battle). Afterwards, we headed to the visitor's center and museum. Another Valentine's Day has come and gone. I have always had such mixed emotions about this interesting holiday. I found a blog written by a Christian young woman that pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as my feelings. God has an amazing knack (Shocker I know right?) of finding the words to define the storm inside of me in ways I never could. I am so thankful for this young woman's honesty, and in order to get to know me a little better I am going to share her article with all of you. So this new year has been an absolutely crazy nonstop journey, and I am absolutely loving it. I have been working crazy hours in an attempt to be a small part of something so much bigger than myself. One of the most encouraging and unexpected adventures I've had so far this year is deciding alongside some of my friends to cut out all processed sugar from my diet. Had I known the changes it was going to bring about I would have made this choice a long time ago. I had no idea how much sugar is in everything. Americans love their sugar I suppose. Slowly but surely I have learned and am learning ways to eat more natural foods. When I can, I eat all natural, though in America this is not always possible. One of my biggest pet peeves through this entire ordeal is how the more natural you eat the more expensive it becomes. How is it that when less work is put into getting the food from its source to your kitchen it costs us more out of pocket? It is cheaper to get processed "fake...

Sorry for the long silence since my last post. I have since closed a show, torn down a show, put up a new show, and we are now working on our Christmas show at the theatre! Some exciting stuff has been going down for sure! So here's my question....HOW IS IT ALREADY CHRISTMAS?!?!?!?!?! I still cannot believe winter is upon us and Christmas is only a few short days away. My family is all gathered at my parents house, and we have already begun the holiday festivities. This afternoon we all went to my grandfather's house and helped him get his tree up. Afterwards, we got to visit and hear stories all about our family from as far back as the Great Depression! Moments like those are priceless, and I am so thankful for them! All Hallows Eve.  A night of tricks and treats. A night where the children come out to play after the sun has set. The one night a year where parents encourage their children to take candy from strangers. The one night where it is said that the spirits of those who have passed from this life can return to walk the earth. I'm sure everyone has their own ways of celebrating. I, for instance, took the opportunity to journey on a new adventure. I gathered up my friends, and we embarked to see a theatrical presentation of Edgar Allan Poe's most famous works at "Poe Evermore". We pulled up in front of the huge Victorian mansion, and turned the car off.  Walking down the deserted paths towards the mansion's main entrance was quite the sensation.  The darkness creeping in on every side threatening to swallow you if it weren't for the small slivers of light coming from the mansion's windows. Sorry for the delay in posts, but life has been crazy busy! (In the most fantastic, awesome, epic way ever!) I got to partake in a costumed Halloween party this past weekend, and let me tell you it was quite the adventure. When I first heard about the party, I had no idea what I was going to dress up as.  I didn't have any costumes, and I had no idea where to even begin.  I decided the best place to start was a Google search.  I started Googling Halloween costumes. I found several amazing costumes, but the price range was way above my budget.  I then turned to faithful Pinterest to maybe find a way to do a homemade costume.
