National Coffee Day

This morning I awoke to discover (thanks to all the social media outlets) that today is in fact National Coffee Day.  I love coffee! Alas, because of being sick I'm not allowed to have coffee for another week.... D'oh! So make sure all of you drink a cup of coffee for me today!!! Here is what I want to know.  Who decides on these "national" holidays? Did someone wake up one day and just decide that today was a great day for coffee? Why can't every day be a coffee day? Do we have an actual "national holiday declaring committee"? How does this work? If any of you know share in the comments below.  I am very curious. So how does one celebrate this National Coffee Day? Is it only by drinking coffee which most of us already do on a daily basis anyway? Are there presents maybe gifting coffee to others? Songs about this delicious, aromatic, caffeinated beverage? Traditions that help us understand how this heavenly drink came to be? How long have we even

Unexpected Plot Twist!

Sorry for the lack of posts the past couple days.  When I went to bed Tuesday night I never dreamed that I would be spending the next day in the hospital suffering from severe dehydration, a 103+ fever, and strep throat.  Can we say PLOT TWIST!!! Today is the first I think my brain would be able to put a rational thought together (HA like that happens even when I'm healthy ha ha). I wanted to let you all know I am still here, and thought I could share my very first hospital experience. It was definitely an adventure. (Now let me explain.  I've been to hospitals before, but never where I was the patient.  Just to clarify.  Good to go? Great!) First off, I would like to say hospital beds are NOT comfortable.  You would think that having sick/injured people they would want to make them comfortable.  Hmm...maybe they make them uncomfortable to keep your mind on that rather than your ailment. That's rather helpful in that aspect...I suppose. Ya, I'm going with that. I ha

Let The (Autumnal) Games Begin

Image
So this weekend I was reintroduced to the game of Munchkin.  I don't know how many of you have ever played this game, but it is pretty amazing in all of its hilarity. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, Munchkin is a card game in which the players attempt to be the first to reach level 10.  A player can level up his or her character by defeating monsters varying from a level 1 'Angry Chicken' to a level 20 'Plutonium Dragon'.  Players can level up their character by asking for aid from fellow players to either defeat monsters or trade items to upgrade their character's battle strength, but be careful because while you can ask for aid, it is also a game created for backstabbing your fellow players. I won't go into too many other details about the game itself, if you are curious it is an easy search for Google to handle.  We ended up playing through the game several times, each time attempting to figure out all the rules and cards as we

A New Adventure!

After months of contemplation, I have finally decided to take the plunge and begin my very own blog! Creating a new blog has proven of itself to be an incredible adventure! At first I wasn't sure if I should let anyone know my contemplations, but I figured there is nothing wrong with reaching out into your social circles to find a little help, and boy did it deliver! I had no idea blogs were such a huge part of people's lives.  I suppose that is a part of my ignorance on the entire thing. Hmm... Where was I? Oh right! The adventure of creating this blog. Well, after I had reached out to people for input on where to begin, I received tons of input on which sites were best, who preferred what, etc.  My mind was spinning like a carousel (I prefer carousel over merry go round...sounds a bit more...fancy? grown up?) I had no idea there were so many options to explore. One friend, who is an avid blogger, went through the basics with me, and told me that over everything else the
