This Is Halloween

Image
Sorry for the delay in posts, but life has been crazy busy! (In the most fantastic, awesome, epic way ever!) I got to partake in a costumed Halloween party this past weekend, and let me tell you it was quite the adventure. When I first heard about the party, I had no idea what I was going to dress up as.  I didn't have any costumes, and I had no idea where to even begin.  I decided the best place to start was a Google search.  I started Googling Halloween costumes. I found several amazing costumes, but the price range was way above my budget.  I then turned to faithful Pinterest to maybe find a way to do a homemade costume. It was here that I found some great makeup ideas for a scarecrow.  I thought it would be perfect! So I kidnapped my best friend, and we headed to the goodwill. (Okay, okay you all know I didn't really kidnap her...more like I called and asked her to come help me, and, of course, she is amazing so she was only too happy to help) We made our way to the

Halloween Days and SpOOOOky Knights (My 10th Blog Post!!!)

This is it everyone...are you ready??? Wait for it... Wait for it... Wait for it.. . MY 10TH BLOG POST!!!!! <insert fireworks, trumpets, and fanfare here> WAHOO!!!! Well now that that's finished, ON WITH THE POST! Yesterday marked my last full day at this season's Renaissance Faire. It was a great day of splendiferous (word of the day...boo-yah!) merriment and festivities from yesteryear.   My adventure began as I first set foot upon the Shire and found this handsome devil welcoming us all for our day of tricks and treats. (Here is the handsome devil...) Once inside the main gates I was greeted by yet another wicked grin... (He's so happy! :-D) I could not wait to see what other Ren Faire shenanigans I was going to encounter on this most splendiferous day! I was able to walk through some shops and peruse their wares.  So many things I would love to have...alas...if only I had money for it all....blast it. It was as I

We The People

I am going to take a moment today to step away from the lighthearted fun post to just take a moment and reflect. I am sure most, if not all, of you are aware of what is happening within the American government.  I am not one to normally post things about politics, and I don't claim to know everything (I know I don't), but I have seen and read enough to know that I think it's time to cry out for help for America. Our country is in desperate need of remembering where we came from. This shutdown is hurting so many people that have fought and died (and are currently fighting and dying) for our country. Today I read an article that the government is now denying death benefits to families of our fallen soldiers for the duration of the shutdown.  Seriously?!?! These are the men who are fighting and DYING for us to remain a free nation.  They should be getting the best treatment we have to offer, yet while congress is continuing to receive their paychecks during the shutdown,

A Summer Day At The Renaissance Faire...In October?

Image
Yesterday I was able to spend the entire day at the Renaissance Faire.  Usually this time of year finds the fair goers wrapped up tight in velvet capes and cloaks, clutching to hot cider, hot chocolate, or hot mulled wine, whilst searching for the patches of sunlight to warm themselves in. However, yesterday proved to feel just like a hot summer day in August. Rather than seeking sunlight, my friend and I found ourselves searching for shade to sit in while we sipped on our cold ice water and watched the merriments of the day. I always feel bad for the actors in those heavy costumes when it gets that hot and humid, but they still play a great part! We were able to walk around with one of the cast members who wander around the shire, and we got to learn the chorus of her song "Love Juice". We then proceeded to follow her around and serenade fellow faire goers. It was quite the adventure, and we had a lot of laughs and met some really incredible people. That is one t

I'm Bad And That's Good

So whilst I watching some shows and movies on TV, I have realized a reoccurring theme. There is usually an epic villain whom you love to hate, and yet there is always that small part of them that makes you cling to hope that they aren't all bad.  You crave for that evil character to embrace that one spark of good inside them to hopefully pull them away from the path of destruction and pain that they are walking down. The writers have you sympathizing with and learning to love this villain. You find yourself routing for them to have a genuine change of heart while still keeping that air of badness...(come on ladies you know we all love the good guy with the capabilities of still being villainous (ah ha! there's the word of the day), come on, admit it. You know you love them).  Then at long last after going through so many ups and downs with this villain they finally make that choice to be good.  They redeem themselves by going above and beyond the call of duty, not for themsel

Crunchy vs. Creamy

There is nothing quite as amazing as opening a brand new jaw of creamy peanut butter and taking out that first spoonful of creamy goodness....The smooth creamy peanut butter as it takes your taste buds on a sweet and salty adventure of awesomeness.... Alas...today is not to be that day... Why you may ask? Because, when I went to open my jar of peanut butter I discovered, not my usual creamy awesomeness, oh no,  but CRUNCHY peanut butter!!! THE HORROR!!!!!! (cue psycho music here) Disappointment abounded as my excitement turned into devastation!!! What was I to do? I had only the one jar of icky crunchy peanut butter, and no creamy peanut butter in sight...at first it was anger at myself for not checking the label more carefully as I grabbed the jar from the shelf, then it went to disappointment knowing I would not experience the creamy goodness I had been craving, then sorrow as I slowly spread the crunchy ickyness (there's the word for the day) on my sandwich. Here's t

Out and About

Image
Finally out and about again! It feels so good to be up and at work (as some would say 'back in the saddle again').  Anything that is not the four walls of my living room for a little while is nice. It is a gorgeous day out! Almost like it is welcoming me back to the outside world. It's a cozy low 70s (though I would take a nice crisp-there's that word again-low 60s high 50s), and the sun is shining brightly. Such a perfect fall day! I drove to work with my windows down just taking in the fresh air. :) So nice! I did get to take my car through the car wash the other day and got some pretty awesome pictures!! Let me know what you think! Have you guys ever caught some cool shots doing every day activities? Let me see them!! I love fun pictures!!! Anywho, I am glad last week is behind me, but what a crazy adventure it was! It's good to be back at work, seeing all my friends, and being able to feel useful again. I can't wait to be finished my m
